Y2 Looking Back and Forth - Friday 29th September 2023
Y2 Friday 29th September 2023– Looking Back & Forth
Looking back:
This week our caterpillars have transformed into pupa and the next stage of their life cycle. The adults have again been impressed with the sensible and respectful way you have looked at them. In Maths, we have looked at the various ways we can flexibly partition numbers – not just into tens and ones.
In English we have looked more closely at the features of instructions, how they are organised and identified the language features.
Year 2 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- Handwriting- “ I have enjoyed learning how to form new letters.”
- Art- “ I liked making my model butterfly.”
- Music- “I have enjoyed learning new songs for Exhibition.”
- English- “I liked doing fun writing about the Bog Baby”
- English- “I have enjoyed learning about the part of instructions.””
- My Happy Mind- “I have enjoyed learning about the parts of the brain”
- PE-“I liked PE- we all worked well together”
- Playtimes- “I have enjoyed playing with younger children at playtimes.”
- “I have enjoyed working with my partner.”
- “I have enjoyed working in the Museum of Wonder”
- “I have enjoyed helping Reception children have a nice playtime. X2
Family discussion questions:
- Discuss what your child noticed about their caterpillar this week.
- We have discussed symmetry in butterflies- where else in nature can you see symmetry?
Looking forward:
Next week we will continue to observe our caterpillars/pupa to see if they transform further.
We will continue to rehearse songs for Exhibition.
Reminders
Reading books will be changed on Mondays. The reading folder is needed in school every day. Thank you.
PE will be on Fridays. Please ensure school PE kit is worn.
Reading books should be brought into school every day. Children’s books will be changed weekly.
Please continue to read every night as this underpins so much learning in Year 2. For every consecutive 14 days of reading the children will receive 10 house points and see their face on the ‘Reading Challenge Wall of Fame’. (Well done to the first group of children to complete the challenge!) Please record this in reading diaries so I can track their progress.
Thanks for your support
