Y2 Looking Back and Forth - Friday 8th September
Y2 Friday 8th September 2023– Looking Back & Forth
Looking back:
Well done year 2 you should all feel very proud of how well you have all returned to school! It has been amazing to see such a positive mindset and how well you’ve started to settle into the new classroom routines.
This week we have done some practical work in Maths based on counting and estimation and recapped our understanding of number.
In English we discussed and written about our experiences over the holidays.
Year 2 – Pupils’ Highlights:
√ PE- “Passing the ball. We had to make sure that we worked together to make sure everyone was included and had a turn.”
√ Writing- “ I enjoyed our lessons because we wrote lots”
√ Handwriting- “I’ve enjoyed working on my handwriting.”
√ “We worked well together to think of amazing ideas for our Exhibition”
√ Maths- “we all tried our best in our lessons”
√ “ I’m enjoying learning new vocabulary”
Family discussion questions:
- Please talk about the first week back and what has gone well for your child.
Looking forward:
- Reading books will be changed on Mondays.
- The reading folder is needed in school every day. Thank you.
- PE will be on Fridays. Please ensure school PE kit is worn.
- A new book to inspire our writing
- Place value work in maths
- Healthy Me – Science
- We start our Exhibition work
Reminders-
Reading books should be brought into school every day. Children’s books will be changed weekly.
Please continue to read every night as this underpins so much learning in Year 2. For every consecutive 14 days of reading the children will receive 10 house points and see their face on the ‘Reading Challenge Wall of Fame’. Please record this in reading diaries so I can track their progress
Drop in parent’s information evening Tuesday 12th September 17:30pm- alternatively, please email me with any queries.
Thanks for your support
