Y3 Looking back and forth 04.12.20

Friday 4th December 2020 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 3

Looking back:

What an exciting week this week. We loved recording our part of the school Christmas CD and when we listened to our songs, we were really impressed with our performance. We have been concerned about the plight of Morgan Mouse though and so will be pleased to know he’s safe and well. Our published pieces based on the story of Magpie, Dog and Fox are looking wonderful and reading wonderfully well. We have learned so much more about how to use our multiplication and division skills, alongside working hard to develop our knowledge of counties of the UK and describing them in terms of each other. We enjoyed decorating our classroom and waiting to see who wins the spinning wheel for our Advent Calendar. We were treated to a speech by Emily Jayne Cummins this week too and learned just what an incredible problem solver she is – starting at only 15 – how inspirational!

Year 3 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • Geography – looking at the counties and describing them.
  • Passing the ball in Touch Rugby
  • Learning about Morgan Mouse – we hope he’s okay.
  • Publishing our fable about Fox, Magpie and Dog.
  • Inspirational Person of the Week – Louis Hamilton
  • Recording our special Christmas CD
  • Maths – multiplication and division
  • Science – designing our games using magnets – make it time next week!
  • Spelling challenge words
  • Word processing and practising with ‘Word’

Family discussion questions:

Ask your children…

  • Who are we sending our questions to this week?
  • Which counties border Cheshire?
  • Challenge: What were the three things Emily Jayne invented?

Looking forward:

Next week in Class 3, we will be showing off our skills and improved knowledge again as we take on some quizzes, write all about Morgan Mouse and continue to multiply and divide but by 4 and 8 too! We will be making our games in Science, completing our leaflets ready to send to Emily Jayne and finding out what else is happening in our World.

Thank you for this week children and take care. I hope that you all have a lovely weekend,

Mrs Sant
