Y3 Looking back and forth 06.11.20

Friday 6th November 2020 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 3

Looking back:

This week has been a great first week back after half term and we have achieved so much already!  All of the children have shown off their knowledge so far in their subject quizzes, written an incredibly impressive biography all about George Stephenson, have begun to get to grips with the formal written method for addition, learned more about symbols in Christianity, have interpreted a graph to inform them about the UK’s climate and of course, we had a wonderful afternoon being creative as we sketched in the style of Chris Mould, closely followed the US election. If that isn’t enough, they have had a great session with Mr Townsend too, improving their Tag Rugby skills!!!

Year 3 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • We loved sketching the Iron Man
  • Absolutely loved the Inspirational Person Of The Week!! Thanks Miss Atkins
  • Learning our new grown up Maths Method
  • Enjoyed time with funny Mrs Sant
  • Testing out surfaces using our cars, trucks and trains
  • Mixing English with History and writing our biographies
  • Tag Rugby – even though I always got tagged – I loved it!
  • Showing off our skills in the assessment quizzes
  • And…everything!

Family discussion questions:

Ask your children…

  • What is so inspirational about this week’s person of the week?
  • Which three things is George Stephenson most famous for?
  • Challenge: What does quotation mean?

Looking forward:

Next week in Class 3, we will be continuing to master the formal written method for addition and subtraction, be introduced to our new text in English, move on to look at counties in the UK, begin to research famous British, female inventors, continue with our exploration of forces, enjoy a poignant book for Remembrance Day, get stuck into Tag Rugby again and lots more.

This week’s homework has the grammar section I mentioned before Half Term with conjunctions as the focus.

Thank you, take care and I hope that you all have a lovely weekend,

Mrs Sant
