Y3 Looking Back and Forth 11/2/22

Friday 11th February 2022 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 3

Looking back:

The challenge has been on this week to get to grips with division and I’m happy to say that we have risen to the task admirably! We have raised our game with our times tables too so two positives already. Completing our English writing has been a highlight of this week as we have all tried our absolute best to produce our highest quality work so far this year. Five paragraphs has been quite the task along with learning how to edit our own work and I am looking forward to enjoying their published pieces. Our completed illustrations in the style of Chris Mould look wonderful and the children have surprised themselves in terms of how well they have used their newly learned skills. This history timelines look great and the children’s understanding from our previous work has really improved and been built upon. We now know so much about three countries of the UK and their features that we are ready to complete this task next week with Northern Ireland. Mrs Cooper helped us to understand the importance of being safe online in computing, so we’re well armed with the facts now and we finished off our week with composing and performing in Music.

Year 3 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • Dance with Premier Sports
  • Making Shadow Boxes in Science
  • Sketching in art
  • Composing and performing our own piece of music to describe the approaching Iron Man
  • Choosing new play equipment for our playground
  • Everything!

Family discussion questions:

Ask your children…

  • Which is the highest peak in all of Wales?
  • Who is Chris Mould?
  • Challenge: what are the three ways we can calculate division?

Looking forward:

We have our final week of this half term ahead of us next week where we will be able to show off our learning so far in our assessment quizzes. We will be working on a fact file all about George Stephenson in History, finding out about Northern Ireland and its features in Geography, publishing our final pieces in English, getting to grips with money in maths, enjoying another playscript in guided reading, performing our dance in PE and remembering to follow all our school rules whilst being considerate and kind to our peers.

Thank you for your wonderful support for the Book Fair. As a result of the children’s genuine love of books, we have been able to buy some more for school too which will benefit them all.

Just a quick reminder that PE is on Tuesday and band with Mrs Hext will be Monday.
