Y3 Looking Back and Forth 18/06/21
Friday 18th June 2021 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 3
Looking back:
We have enjoyed some excellent presentations this week and have discovered some fabulous people from the past and present – what an eclectic mix of inspirational people – thank you to all of the children for their project work. We have worked hard to get to grips with more complicated time work in maths where we have now progressed to focus on 24 hour clock – quite a challenge. We have really loved our new book entitled ‘Jemmy Button’ which blends beautifully with our Africa work in Geography where we have used the laptops to create a comparison between the features of Goostrey and those of Elizabethfontein on Southern Africa and with our Art and Design work based on Tingatinga paintings originating in Tanzania. Our artistic skills are coming on a treat. We focused in on the decline of the Roman Empire in History and we felt that they had left quite a legacy.
Year 3 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- Science – continuing with our plant experiments and finding that flowers can turn blue
- Obstacle courses in PE
- Tingatinga Art
- Clocks work in maths
- Sharing our new book – Jemmy Button
- Poetry writing
- Sharing our inspirational people presentations
- Everything!!!
Family discussion questions:
Ask your children…
- What is Tingatinga Art?
- What was Walt Disney’s first feature length animation film?
- What is the rule for working our 24 hour clock times?
Looking forward:
Next week, the children will no doubt be eager to see how their Science experiments turn out and how the different elements affect the growth of the plants. We will be continuing with our artwork drawings in preparation for our project at the end of the year, continuing to practice our athletic skill in PE on Tuesday, working towards our return story writing in English, working towards our end of topic quiz in History and completing our challenging computing work in Geography to name but a few.
- Please not that PE will now be on a Tuesday and so PE kit will need to be worn on that day please.
Have a lovely weekend and fingers crossed for some more sunshine.
Take care and stay safe,
Mrs Sant
