Y3 Looking back and forth 2.10.20
Friday 2nd October 2020 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 3
Looking back:
I know that I say it every time but what a week!!! The children have enjoyed welcoming another child to our Year 3 family and have been thrilled by their scientific discovery behind the fizzy drinks out there. 8 spoons of sugar in a can of Coke and 16 in a bottle! I’ve heard of a spoonful of sugar but my goodness!!! We have enjoyed our discussion around how Christians view God and have thought about our own opinions too. We have loved yet another class book entitled ‘Mini Rabbit Not Lost’ and couldn’t believe he chose ice-cream after all that! We tried to show off our Maths skills this week by completing our end of unit assessment and have really searched our brain to recall all of our learning so far. In Geography, we secured our learning about the physical and human features of the four countries in the UK, in history, researched the inventors who have changed our World and finally – who would have thought we could create our own sporting warm-up and run as far as we did???
Year 3 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- Publishing our English work about The Iron Man
- Maths – calculating Place Value using equipment
- Reading quizzes on the laptops
- Enjoying the ‘Iron Man’ story
- Spelling Test
- Science – learning whether fizzy were healthy or not – would you believe that a can of Coke has 8 spoons of sugar in it????
- RE and thinking about what Christians think of God.
- Being with Mrs Sant
- And…everything!
Family discussion questions:
Ask your children…
- Which order do we look at the digits in when ordering numbers?
- How many times did we run around our track? What was the key to a successful run?
- Challenge Question: How many characters did Mini Rabbit meet on his journey to find berries?
Looking forward:
Next week, we will be starting our new topic of addition and subtraction in Maths and will be using the equipment and pictorial representation to help our initial understanding. In English, we will be expanding our grammar knowledge and working hard towards our final piece of writing. We will continue to explore our history and geography topics, alongside developing our RE understanding and scientific discoveries.
PE will be on Tuesday again but NOT on Friday.
Thank you again for a wonderfully energetic and enthusiastic week and I hope that you all have a lovely weekend,
Mrs Sant
