Y3 Looking Back and Forth 4/2/22
Friday 4th February 2022 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 3
Looking back:
What a start to short multiplication we have had this week. We have all concentrated on this new method and trying to work on learning our tables to help us out. In English, we have made a ‘Bobby Dazzler’ start to our writing, having completed paragraphs one and two and the threat is building nicely. We enjoyed finding out about Scotland in Geography and our Guided Reading was very enjoyable this week as we acted out the play script of Oliver Twist – a classic! We completed our music work learning about how to control a drone in a piece of music and what the difference in pulse and rhythm is. PE was great again this week and we are really developing our moves. Learning about shadows in Science was another brilliant lesson and we’ve got the idea of the new vocabulary too!
Year 3 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- Dance with Premier Sports
- Finding out about shadows in Science
- Learning how to plan for a final piece of artwork
- Finding out what happened to Peter in ‘As Cool As A Cucumber’
- Singing our building song again
- Everything!
Family discussion questions:
Ask your children…
- What does opaque mean and what were the other two words we learned?
- What is the drone in a piece of music?
- Challenge: What do we have to remember when calculating short multiplication?
Up and ????
Looking forward:
Another great week is ahead of us as we look more closely at Wales and Northern Ireland, continue to develop our drawing skills in art, will enjoy another playscript in Guided Reading, learn our new method of formal division in maths, move forward in our dance sessions, plan for our biography in History, compose our own piece about The Iron Man in Music and complete our writing in English.
Just a quick reminder that PE is on Tuesday, band with Mrs Hext will be Monday and finally, we will be enjoying the Book Fair until Thursday!
