Y3 Looking back and forth 9.10.20

Friday 9th October 2020 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 3

Looking back:

Here I go again…what a week! We have tried really hard this week to get to grips with our new method which will help our mental and written work in maths. We enjoyed rapping our reminder rhyme and got there in the end. Investigating our text in English was quite tricky as we were introduced to lots of new words which we found similar and opposites for to help our understanding – we like a challenge! In geography, we looked into the north, south, east and west of the four countries in the UK and discovered which foods they were known for and completed our physical and human features work – well done class 3! We particularly loved our RE session this week too as we enjoyed listening to the stories from the Bible and thinking about what Christians believe God is like. More to come next week guys!!

Year 3 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • Arithmetic question sheet in Maths
  • Writing our Kenning poems about The Iron Man
  • Maths problems written by Mrs Sant
  • Counting on to the next – rapping!
  • Science with Mrs Riddle – learning about our bones
  • Doing well in spellings
  • Interval training in PE
  • French sentences
  • Reading time
  • RE and listening to the stories told in the Bible
  • Playing tagging games in play time
  • Being with Mrs Sant
  • And…everything!

Family discussion questions:

Ask your children…

  • What is interval training and why is it good for you?
  • What is the new method for adding ones?
  • Challenge Question: Which three Bible stories did we share together?

Looking forward:

Next week, we will be getting into our addition and subtraction flow a little more as we begin to work towards the formal written methods. English will be enjoyable again as we explore more language techniques and begin to plan for our final written piece on The Iron Man. Geography will see us find out more about the climate of the UK and the reasons for all our rain! We will begin to look at religious art to discover how it is used to symbolise the Christian faith and its views about God ~ so much more too of course!

Well done everyone for giving a busy week your all.

Thank you, take care and I hope that you all have a lovely weekend,

Mrs Sant
