Y3 Looking Back and Forth 28/2/20
riday 28TH February 2020 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 3
Looking back:
What a first week back! We’ve had lots to get our teeth into throughout the week like learning all about the three Roman invasions of Britain, the volcanic disaster in Pompeii, the start of our Geography topic on volcanoes and earthquakes, a new division method in Maths and the advanced vocabulary to describe fractions. Well done everyone for your hard work this week!
Year 3 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- Learning and writing about the volcano in Pompeii
- Playing outside whilst the snow was falling
- Spending time in the reading shed
- Swimming lesson
- Our new places in the classroom
- Starting our Science work with Mrs Cooper
- Being with Mrs Sant
- Once again – everything!
Family discussion questions:
Ask your children…
- What was our book of the week this week?
- What happened to the city of Pompeii?
- Challenge Question: What does BC and AD mean?
Looking forward:
Next week will be another busy week as we continue to learn about the resistance to the Roman invasions and in particular, the Celtic Queen Boudica. We will also be writing about The Roman Diary, Iliona’s Journal in English, continuing with Fractions in Maths, practising our French phrases, looking further into our Science topic of Animals, including humans, skeletons and working hard in swimming.
Spellings will begin again on Monday of next week and will be tested on the following Monday.
Many thanks to all those parents who helped at the Year 3 cake sale this afternoon too.
