Y3 Looking back and Forth 29/11/19

Friday 29th November 2019 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 3

Looking back:

What a busy week it has been this week! We really have loved all of our work around George’s Marvellous Medicine – although I was a little disappointed that not one child wanted to taste my concoction. Our letters of apology to Grandma are coming on a treat! We have done a great job of our multiplication and division work in Maths and have got to grips with ‘groups of’ and ‘lots of’ being shown using the Bar Model. We have been busy continuing to learn our Christmas songs and singing is becoming a favourite in our class. We have been learning more about Jesus in RE this week too and thinking about the Holy Trinity and in French, we have been learning more around celebrations. So much to fit in this week – we could keep going to the end of the page!

Year 3 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • I enjoyed everything this week, including…
  • Times Tables tests
  • Division in Maths
  • Christmas books in Assembly  - Plenderleith
  • Writing our letters to Grandma
  • Reading George’s Marvellous Medicine
  • Seeing Mrs Sant’s Marvellous Medicine
  • Triple Jump in PE
  • Show ‘n’ Tell
  • And of course earning 22 Marbles in one day!

Family discussion questions:

Ask your children…

  • What did Mrs Sant’s Marvellous Medicine smell like?
  • What is a clause?
  • Why use a hard-boiled egg in RE?

Looking forward:

Next week, we will be working hard to rehearse for our Christmas celebration and will begin to put our costumes together. We will continue to be influenced by the stories of Roald Dahl as we work on letter writing and will be practicing Times Tables to help us apply our multiplication skills. We will also learn who Lady Mary Wortley Montagu was and what she achieved, how to multiply and divide by eight and how to write a letter to earn your rightful place in Mr Wonka’s Chocolate Factory.

A shorter homework task will be given out on Monday 2nd December and will be expected in by Friday 6th December (as a one off). Continue to practice Times Tables though please. Thank you.
