Y3 w.e 21.6.19 Looking Back & Forth
Friday 21st June 2019 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 3
Looking back:
In maths we have converted amounts of liquids, ml è L and visa versa and began to read and write persuasive arguments in English … this week they were based on disgruntled traditional tale characters, the Billy Goat’s Gruff were not happy with Trevor Troll’s neighbourly behaviour!
Year 3 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- I liked learning about plants and drawing them, I eat plants everyday as I am vegan.
- When we used clay, I liked the part where we flattened it out because it was fun and we got to squish it!
- I enjoyed drawing the Bag For Life pictures, mine was a bird.
- Swimming! It was fun because we got to do lots of practise of our breaststroke. We also got to swim in the deep end, the very deep end! I enjoyed swimming this week – I got moved up!
Family discussion questions:
- What do the leaves on a plant do for it? What two things do the roots allow the plant to do?
- 1 Litre = 1000ml, so 5000ml = …… L
- True or false? 250ml is the same as 2 ½ L. Explain.
- Can you give at least 2 features we would expect to see in a persuasive argument?
Looking forward:
Next week we will be continuing our work on Medicine and Healthcare as well as finding fractions of amounts in maths lessons. We will be writing a more detailed persuasive letter based on an alternative traditional tale of The 3 Little Wolves and the big Bad Pig.
