Y3 w.e 26.4.19 Looking Back & Forth
Friday 26th April 2019 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 3
Looking back:
Year 3 have worked on data handling in maths this week, with a focus on tally charts and pictograms as well as undertaking their weekly timestable learning. In English we have begun to find features of and write our own Revolting Recipe instructions… some truly revolting ideas! Fab-u-lous! As part of our topic we have considered healthy eating and designed our own pizzas in preparation for Roman Day.
Year 3 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- I enjoyed the athletics in PE today, it was very helpful to learn how to get ready for Sports Day.
- I enjoyed swimming because we did all these challenges: blowing bubbles and twisting and turning.
- I liked learning how to write down a tally chart, it was new, I think I could do it well now.
- I enjoyed playing Achi and Nine Men’s Morris (because Morris is my surname!), I liked winning each time, I am quite competitive!
- ICT time this week was great because we got to play on really fun timestable games.
Family discussion questions:
- How would you write 17 as a tally?
- What would be 4 healthy toppings for a pizza?
- What features would you expect to see in a clear set of instructions, maybe for a game or a recipe?
Looking forward:
Next week we will complete our Revolting Recipe instructions and begin creative writing about imaginary worlds! Maths lesson will see us learning about 3D shape properties.
