Y3 w.e 28.6.19 Looking Back & Forth
Friday 27th June 2019 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 3
Looking back:
In maths we have found fractions of amounts and written persuasive arguments in English … this week they were based on an alternative traditional tale of The Three Little Wolves and the Big Bad Pig. We have painted our clay birds and enjoyed the carousel of activities on Eco Day.
Year 3 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- I enjoyed the Eco Afternoon because we were able to do art, and I really like art!
- I enjoyed swimming because we learnt new strokes and I was really good at it. We went in the deep end again, which was fun.
- Our English writing has been good, we have been writing our persuasive letters in our own ways.
- In our athletics practise we got to have a go at the relay!
Family discussion questions:
- Can you find ¼ of 40? What is the link with finding ¼ of 400?
- Calculate 5/9 of 630.
- True or false? 1/3 of 36 > 2/5 of 25. Explain.
- What conjunctions can you use in a persuasive argument to explain your point of view further?
Looking forward:
Next week we will be continuing our work on Medicine and Healthcare as well as comparing fractions in maths lessons. We will be completing our persuasive letter based on an alternative traditional tale of The 3 Little Wolves and the big Bad Pig.
For Sports Day, Thursday 4th July at 1.30, please remember to bring in a t-shirt of your house colour in the morning (as plain in design a possible please). Additionally, parents are invited to collect their children from the classroom after Sports Day has finished.
