Y3. w.e 15.3.19 Looking Back & Forth

Friday 15th March 2019 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 3

Looking back:

Over the last week, in maths we have begun learning how to use the grid method for multiplication – Year 3 should be commended, they have done a sterling job with this new technique!   In English our Roman Life report writing has been completed and published.  Look out for a couple of examples on the Writing Wall downstairs!  The ICT work which we created this week to display Roman chariot racing information was enjoyed by all and we learnt so much about the Roman baths too.

Year 3 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • Everything!
  • Publishing our Roman Reports has been good because we could include the diagrams with labels and captions.
  • Creating the Roman bath leaflets to encourage Romans to go to the baths!
  • I enjoyed our ICT, it was really interesting and I learnt how to type faster.
  • PE was fun, we played tag-rugby and everybody got a chance to get the tag off their opponents.
  • I enjoyed learning my spellings!
  • Dreaming about the trip to Chester next week!
  •  I liked learning the grid method in maths, I learnt how to use the grid very well and was quite accurate with my answers.

Family discussion questions:

  • If we were answering the question 29 X 5 what numbers would we place in the grid and where would we place them? What must you remember to do to the 29?
  • At the baths, what other activities could you do in the day too?
  • True or false? Roman men and women could bathe at the same time of day?

Looking forward:
We will complete our grid method multiplication this week and use our new skills to answer word problems.  In English will begin a new writing block.  This new genre will be story writing , adventure story writing!

Don’t forget the Year 3 trip to Chester and the Grosvenor Museum on Tuesday, we are very excited.  Fingers crossed for a dry day!
