Y4 Looking Back and Forth - Friday 17th January 2025

Friday 17th January – Looking Back & Forth in Year 4

Looking back:

This week,  we have had a super week, working on our times-tables and getting more confident with them.  The children have explored the new book Arthur and the Golden Rope.  They have looked at a text, all about Eleanor Brownstone’s adventures in the Mystical Kingdom.  It is a gripping adventure!

Questions to ask at home  -

  • What is a possessive apostrophe?
  • Who is Eleanor Brownstone?
  • What does intrepid mean?
  • What does plumes mean?
  • What happens in the story of Eleanor?
  • What is a rumour?
  • How does the write build tension in the story?

Children’s highlights of the week

  • The OUMTC in TTRockstars
  • Crispy chicken burger for my lunch!
  • Reading the new adventures in the book
  • Creating our stop-frame animations

Looking forward:

Next week, the children will be exploring the instruments of the orchestra, the in science, they will be looking at sounds made by instruments.  In history, the class will explore Anglo-Saxon runes and everyday life in Anglo-Saxon times.  In art, the children will make printing blocks, using card and string.  In R.E. the class will be looking at Moses.  In P.E. on Friday, the children will continue to work on their gymnastic skills with Mrs Murdoch.
