Y4 Looking Back and Forth
Friday 24th March– Looking Back & Forth in Year 4
Looking back:
This week, the children have begun to write their own Viking myth, worked on perimeter of rectilinear shapes, created food chains in science and created press print tile designs using Viking runes and string!
Questions to ask at home -
- What happens in Arthur and the Golden Rope?
- Who is Fenrir?
- How is he bound in the story?
- What are the two magical items needed to make the rope?
- What is a rectilinear shape?
- How do you calculate perimeter of a rectangle in an efficient way?
- What did you include in your food chain?
Housepoint Challenge!
If anyone can bring to school 5 examples of hyperboles and have them written down you will receive 5 housepoints!
Challenge – If you can write the answers to these questions and hand them into your teachers by the end of the day Tuesday – you will receive 5 housepoints!

Looking forward:
This week, the children will be completing their Vikings stories, having another AR test to work out their new ZPD’s and completing the work on perimeter.
In the afternoons, the children will be finishing their topic on teeth and eating in science and Coding with the pupils from HCCS Sixth Form.
Homework in Year 4
Maths – white sheet
English – Viking myth comprehension
Reading – daily at least 15 mins – remember to take the Accelerated Reader Quizzes
Rockstars – as much as possible 10 mins daily is ideal – at least once a week for 20 mins
Spellings – Mrs Riddell – Please learn them for the test on Wednesday. It is better to look at them for 5 minutes each day than try to learn them all in one night. The children remember them better learnt over the week.
Could the children please complete their homework in pencil or blue/black pen not felt tip.
Timestables – for Thursday - the children will be getting new timestables this week - (these were given out on Friday with how many columns the children need to learn.)
(This can be handed it at anytime before Friday, the children know where the basket is)
