Y4 we 25th January - Looking Back and Forth
Monday 28th January 2019 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 4
Looking back:
The children continued working on the unit in English – ‘stories with a historical setting’. We studied a book called ‘The prince, the cook and the cunning king’. A story about a girl called Ellie, who is tasked by her uncle Henry VII to find out if Lambert Simnel, the kitchen lad, is really one of the lost princes. We have now planned our own stories, the Tudor seals we made gave it a good starting point. In maths we began to look at fractions and equivalent fractions in particular.
In the afternoons, we began a new unit of work on electricity in science. The children seemed to particularly like the battery powered games and the challenge of making a bulb light up with just 1 bulb, 1 wire and 1 battery. In history we explored the studied the king Henry VII. This week we wrestled with the question of who killed the ‘Princes in the Tower’ was it Richard III (their uncle) or Henry VII (a rival)?
With Mrs Cooper this week the children created repeating patterns using drawing tools as well as the days of the week in French.
