Y5 11.2.22 Weekly Update
Friday 11th February 2022 – Y5 Weekly Update
Looking back:
The Children have produced some wonderful work this week. They wrote some great formal letters in our English lesson – applying some fantasitc emotive language. In history, the children explored the legacy of the Ancient Greeks, and produced a wonderful ‘double page spread’ of information. In RE, the children explored Christians beliefs around forgiveness, and produced some lovely, reflective work.
Thank you for everybody’s support of the book fair. I know Mrs Timmins, who has organised the event, has been really pleased with the book enthusiasm.
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- We really enjoyed learning about the legacy of the Ancient Greeks.
- We have loved making Ancient Greek masks with Mrs Riddell.
- We are enjoying playing basketball in PE.
Family discussion questions:
- Ask the children if they can tell you about the impact the Ancient Greeks had on the world.
- Can the children show you how to convert equivalent fractions, and mixed numbers to improper fractions?
Looking forward:
Next week, the children will be writing an Ancient Greek diary entry for the day in the life of a child in Athens. In maths, we are continuing our fractions work and we will be adding and subtracting fractions. In science, we will continue to explore solubility, and conduct an investigation about dissolving sugar. It is our last RE lesson of the current topic, and we will be comparing views on forgiveness across different religions.
