Y5 12.7.19 Looking Back and Forth
Friday 12th July 2019 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 5
Looking back:
The children had their last Wider Opportunities session this week. These are some of the children’s comments:
The tutors were knowledgeable and made it fun.
There was a good variety of instruments to learn.
We enjoying playing together as a class orchestra.
It was great to visit the Bridgewater Hall play with the Halle.
It was good to have the opportunity to play an instrument we wouldn’t usually have got to use.
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- We enjoyed learning about South America.
- We really liked writing poems about endangered animals and deforestation.
Family discussion questions:
Ask your children…
- To tell you what they have learned about South America this week.
- To tell you the golden rules for translation and reflection in maths.
Looking forward:
This week the children will be undertaking some written work based on the Moon landings. It is the 50th anniversary of this incredible event on Friday. We will also spend some reflective time writing poems about equality and peace as it is Nelson Mandela Day on Thursday. In maths, we will be doing some converting between imperial measures and metric measures.
