Y5 13.11.20 Looking Back and Forth
Friday 13th November 2020 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 5
Looking back:
It’s been a lovely week in class. The children did some reflective and thoughtful Remembrance work, writing some lovely poems based on the book ‘Where the Poppies Grow’.
They had the important task of tasting cakes with Mrs Riddell in their Wednesday afternoon D&T. This part of their ‘rationing cakes’ topic.
In RE, we have been exploring Hinduism and we have recently undertaken some research on Hindu naming and wedding ceremonies.
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- We loved tasting cakes!
- We are enjoying Wider Opportunities and learning to play our instruments together as a class.
Family discussion questions:
- Ask your children what they have learnt about the poem ‘In Flanders Fields’. I wonder if they can remember any lines from it?
- Ask the children what they have learnt about Hinduism over the last few weeks.
Looking forward:
This week, the children will be writing their own story based on the book, ‘FArTHER’.
In maths, we will be practising some strategies for division.
In geography we will be researching a world river, and starting a new topic in science – Material World.
Wider Opportunities:
The music the children are currently learning are attached to this page.
