Y5 15.11 Looking Back and Forth
Friday 15th November 2019 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 5
Looking back:
This week the children have produced some thoughtful and reflective poppy poems. We observed the two minutes remembrance silence on Monday and have also been looking at the poem, ‘In Flanders Fields’ by John McCrae.
On Friday, we enjoyed a mindfulness afternoon with the rest of the classes in school. There were lots of great activities going on for the children to enjoy.
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- We enjoyed the mindfulness afternoon.
- We found it interesting learning about what a watertower is.
- We are enjoying 'Times-Tables Rockstars'.
Family discussion questions:
- Ask your child what they learned about John McCrae.
- Which activities did they enjoy during our mindfulness afternoon?
- What did they learn about watertowers this week?
Looking forward:
Next week we will be working on some division strategies in maths lessons. In literacy, the children will be writing their own story based around a mysterious structure. In our history work, we will be imagining a diary for an Ancient Greek child.
Wider Opportunities:
Children are learning to play…
‘Mini March’
‘Tell Me a Story’
‘Hot Mince Pies’
Children to practise their three notes.
