Y5 17.12.21 Weekly Update
Friday 17th December 2021 – Y5 Weekly Update
Looking back:
Many thanks for the cards and gifts I have received. It is much appreciated and I am very grateful!
It’s been a lovely last week with the Christmas Service and the Wider Opps performance. We’ve also spent time doing some history work about Alan Turing and Henry Moore.
I’d like to wish all families a very happy and restful festive period.
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- We really enjoyed the Christmas Service and singing Christmas songs.
- We liked the diary entry we wrote based on the moving book, Rose Blanche.
- We enjoyed writing our VE day diaries.
- Family discussion questions:
- Can the children tell you about the events that led up to the end of WWII, and what happened on VE Day?
- Can the children tell you all about the life of Alan Turing?
Looking Forward:
When we return to school on Wednesday 5th January, we will be tying up a few loose ends on our WWII topic, before moving onto a history topic about Ancient Greece. In maths, we will be continuing to work on Area and Perimeter. Our English work during the first week back will be to write a poem to go with our art work based on the work of Henry Moore.
