Y5 17.6.22 Weekly Update
Friday 17th June 2022 – Y5 Weekly Update
Looking back:
This has been a fantastic week. The children have produced a fantastic newspaper report based on the book, The Promise. In maths, we have been undertaking lots of shape related lessons. In geography, the children did a really interesting lesson looking at rivers in South Africa, near our twin school, Elizabethfontein. They were kind enough to send us some information about two local rivers to them, and we searched for them on a satellite map and labelled them on a map. One of the rivers had a live webcam!
Hopefully the children will have enjoyed June Evening, and being young entrepreneurs, making money for school funds.
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- We really liked researching well-known rivers around the world.
- We have enjoyed playing on the field together in the sun.
- We are looking forward to the Bridgewater Hall concert next week.
Family discussion questions:
- Ask the children if they can tell you the features of a regular polygon and an irregular polygon.
- Ask the children what facts they remember about rivers around the world.
Looking forward:
We are looking forward to our trip to the Bridgewater Hall next week. I’ll send out a text with any relevant information next week.
In our English lessons, we begin a topic based on Anthony Browne’s book about King Kong, which I’m hoping the children will really enjoy.
In maths, we will be moving on to a unit of work on position and direction.
Enjoy the weekend!
