Y5 18.6.21 Looking Back and Forth
Friday 18th June 2021 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 5
Looking back:
We started a new English topic this week based on the book ‘The Lost Book of Adventure’. Well, words can’t describe how beautiful this book is! The children have already produced some wonderful writing inspired by some of the illustrations.
The children also did some great work researching the Amazon River, then presenting the information they found. In science, the children examined how gears work on a bike.
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- We really enjoyed doing athletics in PE.
- We loved making the Ancient Greek masks with Mrs Riddell.
- We liked presenting work about the Amazon.
Family discussion questions:
- Ask the children what we use gears, levers and pulleys for.
- Ask the children to tell you their best Amazon fact
- What have the children learnt about survival from The Lost Book of Adventure?
Looking forward:
Next week, we will studying the legacy of the Ancient Greeks in our history lesson. In RE we will continue to look at the issues of confession and forgiveness. In maths, we will be moving on to some activities to do with ratio.
