Y5 2.10.20 Looking Back and Forth
Friday 2nd October 2020 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 5
Looking back:
The children have worked really hard this week. They did brilliantly with their fractions work, and have completed some wonderful WWII themed writing.
I was so impressed listening to their Wider Opportunities session on Wednesday – they were already getting notes out of their instruments and playing well together.
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- We really enjoyed presenting work about estuary wildlife.
- We enjoyed writing a diary entry imagining the beginning of WWII.
Family discussion questions:
- Ask the children what they learned about estuaries.
- Ask the children to tell you the golden rule for calculating equivalent fractions.
Looking forward:
Next week, we change genres in our writing and look at the features of a formal report.
In maths, we are calculating number sequences, then multiplying and dividing by 10/100.
In our topic work we will be looking at what it was like for children being evacuated during WWII.
Wider Opportunities:
The children are currently experimenting with their instrument and learning how to play a note together in time.
