Y5 24.6.22 Weekly Update
Friday 24th June 2022 – Y5 Weekly Update
Looking back:
We had a fantastic trip to the Bridgewater Hall yesterday and it was great to hear the children playing along with the world famous Hallè orchestra. I hope they really enjoyed this wonderful experience.
This week, we started a writing topic based on ‘King Kong’, Anthony Browne’s wonderful interpretation of this classic story.
In history, we began a new unit of work based on local history. The children created a timeline of Goostrey history.
In maths, we've been having a really good recap of coordinates.
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- We really enjoyed the trip to Bridgewater Hall.
- We are really enjoying ‘King Kong’.
- We enjoyed the science work where we created a life-span timeline.
Family discussion questions:
- Ask the children what they learned about the different ways Goostrey has changed over time.
- Ask the children to tell you how we read coordinates on a grid.
Looking forward:
In English, we will continue to explore ‘King Kong’, with the children building up skills towards writing their own dilemma narrative.
In maths, we will be practising translating a shape on a grid.
In our local history work, we will be learning about what a census is, and what we can interpret from data held on a census.
DON’T FORGET TO VOTE FOR US IN THE SHED OF THE YEAR COMPETITION.
Enjoy the weekend!
