Y5 24.9.21 Looking Back and Forth
Friday 24th September 2021 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 5
Looking back:
What a wonderful week this has been. The children have worked so hard and produced some fantastic work. We looked at some lovely Hindu proverbs in RE, and the children had a really insightful discussion about these. We’ve also continued with our South America geography topic looking a biomes.
Next week we will be researching the Amazon and finding out as much as we can about this interesting biome. In science, we will be conducting some research on the force of friction. In writing, the children have been planning their own survival story.
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- We are really enjoying wider opportunities and learning to play our instruments.
- We love playing tag rugby in PE.
- We are really enjoying the South America topic and learnt a lot about biomes.
Family discussion questions:
- Ask the children if they can name some biomes in South America.
- Ask the children if they can remember any Hindu proverbs.
- Can the children tell you the golden rules of rounding numbers to the nearest 10, 100, 1000?
Looking forward:
Next week, the children will be writing their own survival story. They seem to have really enjoyed learning about the wilderness! In maths, we will look at negative numbers and Roman Numerals.
We are beginning to start thinking about our exhibition work. Mrs Riddell is currently doing some wonderful sewing work with the children based on South America.
Don't forget the rearranged parent drop-in on Monday 27th September 4-5pm. Feel free to call in if you have any questions.
