Y5 25.9.20 Looking Back and Forth
Friday 25th September 2020 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 5
Looking back:
The children have enjoyed a really great week. The class have really found their stride and they are producing lots of wonderful work. We’ve been working on decimals in maths which some children found tricky, but they have such a great attitude that they soon picked it up. In writing lessons, the children are focused and producing much more. They have written some fantastic explorative narrative pieces based on the moon landings.
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- We really enjoyed learning about Hinduism in our RE lesson.
- We were interested to learn about the events that led to the beginning of WWII.
Family discussion questions:
- Ask the children what they learned about the origins of Hinduism.
- Ask the children to tell you what famous British rivers they have looked at this week, and why many major towns and cities have a river running through or near them.
Looking forward:
Next week, we are continuing our writing based on ‘Where Once We Stood’.
In maths, we will be looking at equivalent fractions.
In our topic work we will be exploring the wildlife that can be found in an estuary.
In science, we will be researching the scientific philosophers, Copernicus and Galileo.
Wider Opportunities:
Letters should have come home about the children’s instruments, they will then be allowed to take them home in a couple of weeks.
