Y5 25.11.22 Weekly Update
Friday 25th November 2022 – Y5 Weekly Update
Looking back:
The children have worked really hard in class this week. We completed our Geography topic on rivers by collating a ‘top ten’ facts that the children had learned. In English, the children have written some fantastic stories based within a stormy setting. In science we have set up an interesting investigation testing the friction of shoe soles on different surfaces. In History, we have explored the difference between the cities of Sparta and Athens in ancient Greece.
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- We really enjoyed writing our setting narrative stories.
- We liked the rivers topic in Geography.
- We enjoyed learning about directions in French.
Family discussion questions:
- Can the children remember any of their ‘top-ten facts’ about rivers?
- Can the children tell you how we calculate a cube number?
- Can the children tell you the main differences between Sparta and Athens?
Looking forward:
Next week in English, the children will be writing a recount based on the journey of a river. In maths we will continue to look at strategies for multiplying and dividing numbers. In history, the children will be looking at sources of evidence and establishing problems with reliability. Our next RE work will look at the meaning behind the Lord’s Prayer.
Have a great weekend!
