Y5 25.3.22 Weekly Update
Friday 25th March 2022 – Y5 Weekly Update
Looking back:
What a great week it’s been. The children have done some wonderful written work – writing their own story based on Sherlock Holmes. They built up lots of tension, then left the reader on a cliffhanger!
In geography, we have done some more work in preparation for Burwardsley. The children have looked at 4 & 6-digit grid references using a map of the Burwardsley area. In maths, we have completed some great work on percentages.
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- We really enjoyed presenting some lovely RE work based on Islam.
- We found the science work on why objects burn interesting.
- We like doing the compass and grid-reference work.
- We loved writing our ‘Hounds of the Baskervilles’ stories.
Family discussion questions:
- Can the children tell you about the fire-triangle and the three elements required to make fire?
- Can the children tell you all about their cliffhanger story?
Looking forward:
Our trip to Burwardsley is nearly here. The children come into school at the normal time on Tuesday with a suitcase/holdall and a separate rucksac/bag for their lunch. We will hopefully return before the end of the school day on Thursday, and fingers crossed for good weather!
Enjoy the weekend. Any further questions or queries about Burwardsley, please let me know.
