Y5 3.12.21 Weekly Update
Friday 3rd December 2021 – Y5 Weekly Update
Looking back:
The Year 5s have produced some lovely work this week. They have explored the genre of formal report writing in English, and they will use these skills to write their own report next week. In maths, we have been dividing and multiplying by 10, 100 and 1000. The children did brilliantly with this. Our science work was exploring why we have night and day – complete with dark classroom, spinning globe and torch to model it!
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- We are enjoying the book, ‘Rose Blanche’ which is set in Germany during WWII.
- We are really enjoying learning the songs for our Junior Christmas performance.
- We really enjoyed the Elf Run – in aid of St Luke’s Hospice.
Family discussion questions:
- Can the children tell you about the different job roles in the Church of England?
- Ask the children to discuss the golden rules for multiplying by 10, 100 and 1000.
Looking forward:
Next week, the children will be writing a formal report in English. In science, we will be exploring why daylight hours are shorter in the winter. In maths we will be looking at area and perimeter.
