Y5 4.11.22 Weekly Update
Friday 4th November 2022 – Y5 Weekly Update
Looking back:
The children have had such a hardworking week. They wrote a brilliant piece of writing, imagining they had returned from a Moon landing and were reporting back on the mission. In maths, they have completed some really tricky work interpreting line graphs. In geography, the children examined the reasons for, and the impact of flooding. We also began our first history topic of the year – the Ancient Greeks!
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- We really enjoyed writing the report about a Moon mission.
- It was interesting learning about Diwali and the story of Rama and Sita.
- We enjoyed our first gymnastics session.
Family discussion questions:
- Ask the children what they learned about Diwali.
- Can the children remember when the main era of Ancient Greece was?
Looking forward:
Next week, we have one more week on statistics in maths. In English we start a new unit of narrative writing based on a brilliant book which I know the children will love.
In geography, we are researching rivers near our twin school, ElizabethFontein. The school have kindly put together some information for us about rivers in their local area. We will end of science ‘Space’ topic by exploring why we have winter and summer.
