Y5 6.5.22 Weekly Update
Friday 6th May 2022 – Y5 Weekly Update
Looking back:
We’ve had a great week in Year 5. We started a new writing unit based on the wonderful book, The Promise. The children have really enjoyed this thought-provoking story so far. In maths, we have continued to focus on decimals and the children have displayed really good understanding. In geography, we have been producing a little information booklet about estuary wildlife and the children have done a great job with these.
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- We are enjoying the rivers topic.
- We have enjoyed immersing ourselves in the book, The Promise.
- We liked practising our notetaking skills researching sacred texts in RE.
Family discussion questions:
- Ask the children what wildlife can be found in a river estuary.
- Can the children tell you about The Promise, and some of the great descriptions used in the book?
Looking forward:
Next week, we will continue our English work based on The Promise, and we are building up our writing skills so that we can write our own story. In science, we will be exploring the life cycle of plants. We have one more week of decimals work, and we will be applying the strategies we have been learning to problem solving questions.
