Y5 7.2.20 Looking Back and Forth
Friday 7th February 2020 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 5
Looking back:
What a fantastic week! The children really enjoyed the trip to Jodrell Bank with Mrs Saxton. The Pop UK concerts were also a triumph, with the children singing with enthusiasm and confidence.
The children have also completed some fantastic written work this week, imagining they were a pebble on the journey of a river. They applied lots of their geography vocabulary to this piece.
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- We loved the Pop UK concert and loved performing as a whole school.
- Thank you to Mrs Saxton for arranging the trip to Jodrell Bank. We learnt a lot about the history of this famous site.
Family discussion questions:
- Ask the children what they learned at Jodrell Bank.
- Ask the children to tell you all they have learned about the Blitz.
Looking forward:
Next week, the children will be exploring multiples, factors and prime numbers in maths lessons. In our history work, we will be exploring the Blitz artwork of Henry Moore. The children will produce their own picture in his style. They will also write a poem based on their artwork.
The children are now signed up to the Accelerated Reader programme. Information coming home soon.
Don’t forget, the children also have access to Times-tables Rockstars and can be practising their times-tables at home if they are able to get on-line.
Wider Opportunities:
Children are currently learning ‘Michael Oliver’ and ‘Mini March’. The note names are at the bottom of the music to help.
