Y5 8.10.21 Looking Back and Forth
Friday 8th October 2021 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 5
Looking back:
I have been amazed by the children this week! They have produced some truly lovely work. They have been putting a lot of effort into their South America ‘double-page spreads’ for the exhibition. The children have also written a wonderful survival guide for the Amazon – they are also going to produce this work in neat. All children will have at least one great piece of work in the exhibition and it will be lovely to display this work in the classroom too.
The children had a brilliant time with the artist, Faith Bebbington, on Tuesday making some wonderful figure sculptures.
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- We have really loved sewing with Mrs Riddell on Wednesday afternoons.
- We have enjoyed presenting what we have learned about South America in a double-page spread.
- We enjoyed the science investigation about air-resistance.
Family discussion questions:
- Ask the children what elements of survival they wrote about in their survival guide.
- Can the children remember their Roman Numerals up to 1000.
- Ask the children about their sewing work with Mrs Riddell.
Looking forward:
Next week, the children have another guest in school, and will be undertaking some South American dance.
We will be working hard on our exhibition work – the children will be writing and publishing an endangered animal poem.
In maths, the children will be exploring addition and subtraction strategies.
