Friday 9th July 2021 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 5
Looking back:
It’s been another great week in school with lots going on - the children have enjoyed a pyjama fun run and their class Sports Day!
In class, the children have written a wonderful diary entry for an ancient Greek child. They also wrote some beautiful poems about endangered animals. The children’s written work has been really lovely this year. In RE, we finished our Christianity topic by comparing the theme of forgiveness across Christianity, Hinduism and Islam.
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- We’ve really enjoyed RE this year, presenting thoughtful and reflective work about different religions and had some interesting debates.
- We feel much more confident with multiplying two 2-digit numbers together.
- We enjoyed writing our ancient Greek diary.
Family discussion questions:
- Ask the children about their endangered animal poem and if they are able to recite any of it!
- Ask the children what happened in their ancient Greek child’s day.
- Can the children tell you what BODMAS means?
Looking forward:
If you haven’t filled in the Bike-ability consent slip, please could I have these in on Monday so that I can email numbers to the organisers. This will take place in September. Please could you also make sure the children have their instruments in school on Wednesday so that they can clean them and hand them back.
Next week we will be learning the skills needed to write a survival guide in our English lessons. In maths, we will continue looking at BODMAS, before moving on to division strategies.
On Friday afternoon, the class will have a special afternoon of sporting activities with our Premier Sport coaches. They will do a little bit of archery, and some team games.
