Y5 Friday 8th March - Looking Back and Forth
Friday 8th March 2019 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 5
Looking back:
Another hard-working week from Year 5. We have watched about a third of the ‘favourite book’ presentations and they have all been fantastic. It’s clear lots of effort went into these. The children have produced some outstanding writing based on ‘The Watertower’ and put lots of effort into their maths work. They really enjoyed seeing their artwork up in the exhibition on Tuesday. They said they felt pride seeing their work displayed in this way and how lovely it was to see the variety of artwork produced by all children.
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- Tuesday’s art exhibition.
- We have been enjoying doing gymnastics in PE.
- We liked designing our own book spines on World Book Day.
Family discussion questions:
Ask your children…
- To tell you how to calculate a fraction of a number.
- About the lever investigation that we did on Monday.
- What they learned about pulleys and gears.
Looking forward:
This week, the children will be writing their own story based around ‘The Watertower’. In maths, we will be exploring translation and reflection on a grid. In our topic work we will be looking at the impact of flooding; we will also begin a new science topic – ‘Materials’.
Don’t forget we have Parents’ Evenings this week, Tuesday and Thursday. A reminder of your appointment time came home on Friday.
Please could the children ensure they have PE kits in school. PE this half-term is on Tuesday afternoons, but it is always useful to have PE kits available in school at all times.
