Y5 Weekly Update 10.1.25

Friday 10th January 2025 – Y5 Weekly Update

Looking back:

It was lovely to see the children back in school, so enthusiastic and happy – despite the Baltic weather conditions!

This week, they have written a lovely piece of writing based on the journey of a river. This has been proudly displayed in their Geography books. We started our History topic on WWII looking at a timeline of British history over the last 100 years and studied the reasons why WWII began. In maths, we are working on a unit using multiplication and division strategies.

Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • We enjoyed presenting work about Islam.
  • Learning about the beginning of WWII was interesting.
  • We liked the river writing.

Family discussion questions:

  • Ask the children if they can show you how to multiply a 2-digit number by a 2-digit number.
  • Can the children tell you any facts about the origins of Islam?

Looking forward:

Next week, we’ll be starting a writing topic about a very famous detective!

In maths, we will be looking at division strategies.

In science, we being a topic looking at materials, and we will have a little recap lesson about properties of materials.

Have a great weekend!
