Y5 Weekly Update 11.10.24
Friday 11th October 2024 – Y5 Weekly Update
Looking back:
It’s been a great week in Year 5. The children have been working hard creating and presenting work for the exhibition. On Wednesday, we had a lovely morning with the artist, Faith Bebbington, making some amazing sculptures of Ancient Greek myth characters. The children have done some research about Alexander the Great and made their own knowledge organisers about his achievements. In English, we have planned and written an imagined diary entry for an Ancient Greek child.
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- We loved the artwork with Faith Bebbington.
- We are enjoying Wider Opportunities.
- We enjoyed making the Trojan Horses.
Family discussion questions:
- Can the children tell you some key facts about Alexander the Great’s life?
- Can the children remember any of the Hindu Gods we learned about?
Looking forward:
Next week, we will be writing some fun rap poetry based on Theseus and the Minotaur.
In maths, we have a final week of addition and subtraction strategies.
We will be doing a little bit more exhibition work, linked to Ancient Greek heroes and leaders.
In science, we will study why we have the seasons.
Have a great weekend!
