Y5 Weekly Update 12.5.23
Friday 12th May 2023 – Y5 Weekly Update
Looking back:
It’s been another great week. The children have looked at different biomes in South America, learning about each one. In English, the children have been building their writing skills ready to write a survival guide next week. In RE, we had a really interest lesson looking at different examples of Islamic art. Our science lesson explored the life cycle of a bird.
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- We really enjoyed looking at Islamic art.
- It was interesting to look at the different parts and functions of an egg.
Family discussion questions:
- Next time you crack an egg, ask the children if they can remember the different features.
- Ask the children where the major biomes of South America are.
Looking forward:
Next week, we are doing some important work with the No Outsiders PSHE scheme of work – reading and discussing the book, ‘And Tango Makes Three’. In English, we are writing a survival guide; the children will then get chance to publish this in neat, which I’m sure they will enjoy. In maths, we are finishing off our decimals topic (it feels like we’ve been doing decimals for weeks!), and will then move on to work on shape. In science, we are studying the life cycle of a mammal, and in geography we will research the Amazon River!
Don’t forget, audience tickets for the Bridgewater Hall concert are on sale on Monday. Here’s the link:
