Y5 Weekly Update 13.12.24
Friday 13th December 2024 – Y5 Weekly Update
Looking back:
It’s been a great week in Year 5! Inbetween Christmas Service rehearsals, Christmas Shop visits and Christmas lunch, the children have been working hard and producing some great work. They have learned about letter writing using a more formal tone. In science, we did a really interesting experiment about levers and we showed how it was possible to lift a 1kg weight with a 200g weight. We’ve also been doing lots of fractions work!
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- It was interesting learning about rivers near our twin school in South Africa.
- We enjoyed the science experiment about showing how useful levers are.
- We’ve enjoyed exploring bridge design with Mrs Riddell.
Family discussion questions:
- Ask the children about our science investigation and what we did.
- Can the children remember the names of the two rivers close to our twin school?
Looking forward:
Unbelievably, it is somehow the end of another term and as is always the way before Christmas, next week is a busy one!
The children are watching the infant Nativity on Monday morning which is always good fun. They have their own Christmas Service to perform three times over the week. On the Friday, the children will have PE as normal and they are welcome to bring in a traditional game (no electronics). In the afternoon there will be a whole school film.
Believe it or not, we’ve also got quite a bit of work to get through too!
Have a great weekend!
