Y5 Weekly Update 14.2.25

Friday 14th February 2025 – Y5 Weekly Update

Looking back:

Well, that half-term seemed to fly by in the blink of an eye! The children have produced some more lovely writing this week – a diary entry based on our guided reading book, Rose Blanche, and a lovely diary entry imagining VE Day. In maths we have been working hard on decimals – looking at thousandths. In RE, we concluded our Islam topic with some work on Allah and the Qur’an.

Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • We loved learning about VE Day.
  • We enjoyed making the VE Day bunting.
  • It was interesting learning about the Qur’an.

Family discussion questions:

  • Ask the children what they have learned during our WWII topic.
  • What can the children tell you about VE Day?

Looking forward:

After Half-Term, we will be starting a Geography topic in preparation for our residential in Burwardsley at the start of April.

We will be immersing ourselves in a wonderful new book for our English lessons, all about how our living environment might impact on mood and behaviour.

In maths, we will continue with our decimals topic with some ordering and rounding.

PE day remains on Fridays.

Have a great half-term!
