Y5 Weekly Update 14.6.24

Friday 14th June 2024 – Y5 Weekly Update

Looking back:

We had a lovely time at Bridgewater Hall yesterday, listening to and playing along with the world famous Hallé orchestra. It was a great experience and the children were fantastic.

In English, the children have been really enjoying Anthony Browne’s retelling of King Kong and they are gearing up to writing their own story based on this book.

In maths, we are close to completing our unit of work on shape – the children have done really well with angles.

Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • We really enjoyed the trip to Bridgewater Hall and it was amazing listening to a full orchestra.
  • We enjoyed the science work, looking at life milestones.
  • It was interesting learinng about Muslim pilgrimages

Family discussion questions:

  • What did the children learn about South America from our features map work?
  • What did the children enjoy about the trip to watch the Hallé orchestra?

Looking forward:

Next week, we will be researching the Amazon River as part of our South America topic.

In Maths, we will move on to some work on position and direction, undertaking some grid activities.

In science, we will be researching some interesting information about a baby’s development.

Our RE work moves on to looking at Christian pilgrimages.

Have a great weekend!
