Y5 Weekly Update 18.11.22
Friday 18th November 2022 – Y5 Weekly Update
Looking back:
It’s been a great week in Year 5. In English, the children have been using figurative language to describe a stormy sea setting. They’ve produced a couple of wonderful pieces of written work on this. In geography, we have been researching facts about some well-known world rivers. We started our science topic on forces by having a little recap session all about gravity and Sir Isaac Newton.
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- We really enjoyed exploring quotes and opinions about ‘Truth’ in RE.
- We found it interesting learning about the different periods of Ancient Greek history.
- We are enjoying learning about bridge design with Mrs Riddell.
Family discussion questions:
- Can the children remember the difference between a multiple and a factor?
- Can the children tell you some facts about the world rivers they researched?
Looking forward:
Next week, the children will be writing their own ‘setting narrative’ story – a story based around a vivid setting. In maths, we will be exploring strategies to multiply numbers by 10 and 100.Our science lessons will look at opposing forces, and in history we will be exploring the differences between the Ancient Greek cities of Sparta and Athens.
I look forward to seeing many of you for Parents' Evening appointments on Monday and Tuesday.
Have a great weekend!
