Y5 Weekly Update 19.4.24
Friday 19th April 2024 – Y5 Weekly Update
Looking back:
I hope the children enjoyed the trip to Burwardsley – freezing wind aside, it was a really great trip! The children were an absolute pleasure to take and their behaviour was brilliant. They slept really well both nights and they actually seemed quite fresh faced when they came in on Thursday – I’m not sure anyone could say the same about me! I’ll try to put some photos on the website soon.
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- We enjoyed climbing up to Beeston Castle (even with the wind!)
- We liked hiking in the mud from Beeston to Burwardsley.
- We enjoyed orienteering.
- We liked the walk up to the top of Willow Wood and looking at the sandstone ridge.
- We enjoyed den building.
Family discussion questions:
- Ask the children what their favourite part of Burwardsley was.
- Can they remember which towns the Sandstone Trail starts and ends?
Looking forward:
Next week we’ll be starting a new writing topic using a wonderful book based on survival and adventuring. In maths, we will be doing a little topic on decimals. We will begin a really interesting local history topic looking at Goostrey through the ages. In science, we also begin a new topic looking at life cycles.
Have a great weekend!
