Y5 Weekly Update 19.5.23
Friday 19th May 2023 – Y5 Weekly Update
Looking back:
What a lovely week it’s been. The children have been very excited about the swimming pool, and they enjoyed their swimming lesson. In English, the children have written a wonderful survival guide explanation text and published these in neat so well. In maths, we finally complete our decimals unit of work… we now move on to shape. In a PSHE lesson on Monday, we read the book ‘And Tango Makes Three’ and produced some lovely work based on this, drawing penguins. In geography, we researched the Amazon river.
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- We really enjoyed doing No Outsiders work based on ‘And Tango Makes Three’.
- We really liked producing our survival guides – they look great!
Family discussion questions:
- Ask the children about the message in ‘And Tango Makes Three’.
- Can the children remember any facts about the Amazon?
Looking forward:
Wow, we reach the end of another half-term next week – where is time going? We will be researching endangered South American wildlife in geography next week. In science we will be exploring the life cycle of amphibians. Our shape work in maths starts with work on angles – measuring angles with a protractor and problem solving with straight line angles. We end a lovely RE topic on art and music in religion continuing to look at religious artefacts.
Enjoy the weekend!
