Y5 Weekly Update 20.12.24

Friday 20th December 2024 – Y5 Weekly Update

Looking back:

Thanks so much for the lovely cards and gifts I have received. It is really kind and I’m very grateful!

It’s been such a lovely week in Year 5! The Christmas Services and playground singing were fantastic and it’s always so heart-warming to celebrate in such a lovely venue as St Luke’s. On Wednesday, the children put together some birdfeeders to hand on our class tree (Birch) over the Christmas holidays. There is a buzz around school today as the children complete their elf run, take part in some Christmassy activities and enjoy a film together this afternoon.

Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • We loved the Christmas Services.
  • We really enjoyed the Elf Run.
  • It was a really nice atmosphere singing on the playground.

Family discussion questions:

  • Ask the children what they remember about pulleys and levers.
  • Can the children remember the stages of the journey of a river, this has been a focus this half-term.

Looking forward:

I’d like to wish all families a happy and relaxed break. The children have been amazing this term, working hard and making so much progress in their learning.

In the new year, our foundation topic switches back to History with some interesting learning about WWII.

In English, we will be studying a very famous book, about a very famous detective! Our maths work will be multiplication and division strategies.

Have a great holiday!
