Y5 Weekly Update 21.3.25
Friday 21st March 2025 – Y5 Weekly Update
Looking back:
We’ve had a hardworking week in Year 5. In maths, we have been working on area, calculating area rectangles and compound shapes. In English, the children have planned and begun to write a character driven narrative based on our vehicle text, The Promise. In RE, we had an interesting lesson discussing the word ‘salvation’ and how people might seek salvation through their religion. In our geography topic, we explored compass points.
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- We enjoyed the RE lesson and designing a page of work on ‘salvation’.
- We liked conducting the experiment on solubility, exploring different conditions for dissolving.
Family discussion questions:
- Can the children tell you about their variables in their science experiment and how it was a fair test?
- Can the children tell you how to calculate area and perimeter?
Looking forward:
Don’t forget raffle tickets for the class hamper are being sold in class. It's also Mother's Day Shop for us on Tuesday!
Next week in Maths, we will be moving on to look at statistics and drawing and interpreting line graphs.
We’re going to undertake a little bit of work learning more about how to use word processing packages.
In RE we will be comparing the use of art in different religions and how it has been represented in art.
Have a great weekend!
