Y5 Weekly Update 22.11.24
Friday 22nd November 2024 – Y5 Weekly Update
Looking back:
It’s been a great week in Year 5. The children created a wonderful ‘journey of a river’ collage in their geography books and hopefully learned some key vocabulary along the way. In RE, the children studied the meaning behind ‘the Lord’s Prayer’ in Christianity. In English, we have continued to use ‘FArTHER’ as our writing inspiration and the children wrote a brilliant description of a stormy ocean using figurative language. On Tuesday, the children had a chilly, but rewarding, tree planting session. On Thursday, they loved the extra session of PE, with archery and pickleball.
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- We enjoyed the science experiment, investigating friction.
- We liked the tree planting and PE sessions.
- We are enjoying Wider Opps and learning some pieces of music together.
Family discussion questons:
- Can the children describe the journey of a river through the upper, middle and lower courses?
- Ask the children what they learned about estuary wildlife..
Looking forward:
On Monday we have a morning of Forest Schools. The children will require some warm clothing suitable for the outdoors and a change of footwear.
In maths, we move on to fractions, looking at equivalence and improper fractions.
In science we will be learning about air resistance and in geography we will be researching estuary wildlife.
Have a great weekend!
